Children of our Culture

As I learned new forms of poetry, I really liked playing loosely with them. For example, this poem is based upon a pantoum, however it does not fit the form perfectly. This poem was inspired by the vast amount of college kids and young adults who think they know life yet have no idea. It is about how easily the culture and society can steal their innocents and make them feel like what they are doing is correct.


Children of our Culture

Crap Crusted condemning thoughts
Erupt from their modern mouths.
Oh her modern honor,
How she dictates our youth.

Erupts from their modern mouths?
Yes, she steals their brains and eyes.
How she dictates our youth,
With nothing more than control.

Yes,she steals their brains and eyes.
Oh, she has no guilt; nor shame.
With nothing more than control,
She contorts the young modern mind.
